Great News – Yes and No – in the process of the refirb the pool will be reduced from 33m to 25m!  A sad loss to us all as we have grown to love the pool as it is.  We have until April 2010 to make your comments count.

If you can please check out https://consultations.southglos.gov.uk/inovem/consult.ti/system/calendar and see the proposal in full and have your say.  A bit like voting don’t moan about it – act while you can use the form to let them hear your voice!

Well done to Ed for spotting that there was no provision for any cycle stands.  Ed and I had a discussion with Ken – the acting manager of KLC and he would see what he can do even if it is not on the plan.

Come to Kingswood Leisure Centre on Thursday 25th February for 19:30 -20:30 for swim video analysis.  Our Coach James Eastwood, ’Beasty’ to his mates, will video our stroke and hopefully provide a copy of this to allow us to see what we are doing wrong!

We have an added bonus in that Trevor Kingdom of Black Sheep Sports will be visiting us to swim with us and then after the session from 20:45 give us a demo on Scott trainers -  check out the details http://www.3-to-tri.co.uk/run_store_14.html  he has offered some great club offers – these shoes generally retail for over £100 each

Club KIT Order 2010
icon1 Eric the Eel | icon2 News | icon4 02 9th, 2010| icon3No Comments »

Matt R  has checked with the supplier to get prices for a new order of KIT clothing.  He can’t confirm the EXACT unit prices until we place a firm order due to exchange rates and delivery charges, but the prices quoted are as close as I can estimate.

As you can see, the Euro exchange rate is not doing us any favours and the items are quite a bit more expensive than the last time we ordered them…

S/S Cycle Top (1/4 Zip) = £32
Bib Shorts = £50
Tri Suit = £75

Would everyone interested in ordering clothing please send me an e-mail with their requests by 1st March (please note new e-mail address below). He can then determine if we have enough interest on each item to place an order and will advise of final prices and a delivery date.

matthewrobinson23@googlemail.com or use the message board to put up swaps if your item was too big/small etc http://kingswoodtri.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=CrossCountry&action=display&thread=443

A number of us have entered/are thinking of entering this 85mile cycle race – only 750 places left – sold out last year!  Should be a good fun!  Lots of hills 2,275m’s of climb!!!!!!!!!

Now in its fifth year, this Classic based on the town of Monmouth just across the border in Wales offers 85 miles of the most varied terrain available with three mile climbs followed by 25% walls. Couple this with stunning scenery and all within 25 miles of the start and finish in Monmouth, our route will not only challenge the fittest riders but also offers a great chance for those wanting to ride their first Classic event. The course is designed so that you can shorten your effort at any time should your fitness let you down making it a great way to see the Forest of Dean and ride a sportive at the same time. We offer the opportunity to sign-on on Saturday, collect your numbers and goody bag, and visit our trade area and local attractions in the tented village, which goes on all day Sunday as well. Sign-on opens at 07.30 on Sunday and the trade cafe will be open from 7am for early refreshments and carbo loading. Sunday’s start is between 8-9am with riders set off in small groups. The ride will be timed and have a full mechanical backup service at the start plus en route to try and keep everyone on the road to complete their ride. Two well stocked feeds will keep the nutrition levels up and welcome refreshments await all finishers. The route will be well signposted with our now well proven routing arrows and warning signs to help you have a safe and easy journey. There is plenty of excellent local accommodation plus camp sites within easy reach, so why not make it a weekend and bring the family. This year we will offer free secure overnight bike storage in the start village courtesy of Kryptonite. Unfortunately due to limited free parking, we have to restrict entries to 1000 and therefore we strongly recommend early entry to guarantee your place on this Spring Classic – we sold out in 2009!

We look forward to welcoming both new faces and many returning riders in 2010.
