Police are issuing a warning to cyclists using the Bristol and Bath cycle path after a clothes line was strung across the pathway at wheel height.
A 28-year-old Kingswood man fell from his bike after he rode into the cable in the dark at around 8pm on Monday December 12 2011.
A passerby came to his aid after finding him unconscious at about 8.20pm – but his blue and black Trek Madone road racing bike had been stolen. He was checked over by paramedics but did not need further treatment.
It happened as the cyclist was riding towards Warmley, approaching a bridge in the Siston Common area, having just passed Mangotsfield station.
He’s a soldier who has been serving in Afghanistan and was training on a customised bike he uses for races.
