Location: Kim’s Cafe Hot Water Lane off Station Road, Kingswood

The kit looks fantastic check out a sneek preview here

Looks fab!

Looks fab!

Please be looking your best for the start as we have the pleasure of a professional sports photographer from 220 Magazine to take some shots of the race and then when we return a few group shots!

Race to start at 9am from Hot Water Lane. The route will be a little longer than last time to bring it up to 10k.

John Thorpe currently has the course record with 36min 12 sec, but as there will be changes to the course a new record is up for grabs!

Kim’s Cafe will be open from 9:30 so you will need to bring some money for a nice breakfast after the run.

If you cannot race not to worry just come on down at 10:00 for a breakfast to be part of our 5minutes of fame and join us!

The kit launch will take place at approximately 10 – 10.30am.

Thanks, Lee

Starting this Saturday (27th September 2008).

I have been organising these runs for the past 15 years, the routes and distances vary each week depending on the needs of the group. No one ever gets dropped! . It is much more enjoyable than road running and is a good social as well. Trail type shoes are useful as is a Camelbak ( 500-750ml per hour for your drinking needs) . You will see that there are two choices of distance, the main benefit of finishing at my house is that there are usually tea and biscuits provided by Alex. Perhaps those finishing at Swineford could bring a flask? The routes are more challenging when it gets colder and wetter.

Start # 1. 8:30am @ 13 Caverton Road,Saltford. Flat run along the river, past ‘Jolly Sailor’ pub and along riverbank to cycle path, over bridge at new platform/mooring stage, back along river to Swineford Picnic area.

Start # 2. 9:00am @ Swineford Picnic area. Hilly, muddy, wet run, up ‘The Gully’ to North Stoke, up The Sheeptrack’ to Lansdown golf course, along the top to Lansdown lane, long downhill to Upton Cheyney,

Along North Stoke lane to ‘Pipley Gully’ down to stream, up stream to North Stoke and back down the ‘Gully to the Picnic Area, end of run for those doing the shorter route.( Approx 5.5 miles)

From Swineford, along road to North Stoke turning, right towards the river, through Kelston Mills to cycle path , back to Claverton Road via Saltford High Street ( Approx 11 miles )

Fortnightly Rides on Saturday Morning. The idea is to do about 40 miles with a cafe stop. No one will be dropped:

So far:
  • Sat 16th Aug:  The first ride saw 5 of us out going to Malmesbury which saw Rachael and Chris giving myself and Maggie a bit of a work over until Mike managed to tame them.

  • Sat 30th Aug: Several of us went on, a bit longer than advertised, route to Berkeley where, to some people’s dismay, the café was full which left Rich to lead the time trial home.

  • Sat 13th Sept:  Ride took us to Nettleton where the tea was good and there were numerous demonstrations of tub and inner tube changing (scores were: Philippa 4 Derek 2).

 Cream Teas at Nettleton

Next Ride

  • Sat 27th Sept:  Club Ride and 3 up Practise

Meet Bitton 8.30am or Bottom of Milbury Heath Hill on Old Gloucester Rd just N of Thornbury on A38 at 9.30am to start practise. All meet up at Eastwood Park Garden Centre tea rooms bit further N on A38 at10.30am.
